Description

"Where people move, music moves: from hand to hand, land to land." 'Already Home', the new album from Rowan (Lady Maisery) and Anna Rheingans, interweave the music of Scandinavia and France with newly-composed tunes and songs, forming a seamless tapestry of fiddles, banjo and voices. The result is an organic, wholly natural collaboration, the manifestation of a profound connection, an unspoken understanding, a lifetime's playing and singing together.

I am awed by the musicianship on this album. Listening to music this sublime evokes a feeling similar to watching the first man on the moon: there is a lump in my throat, and the recognition that nothing you could say could convey the slightest sense of what it would mean to be there yourself. Glad Gold Hearts was a revelation. Already Home is even deeper and more meaningful. Both sisters are brilliant musicians and perceptive artists. Rich, deep, brilliant, gorgeous music. Thank you, Anna and Rowan.**Update**Four years after its release, this album continues to hold its own. The varieties and virtuosity of performance are likely to persuade listeners in the future to regard this recording as a "classic," a musical statement firmly rooted in the past, expressive of its time (the present), yet musically timeless. "We are moving, we are home, and we're still here. We are already home, and bound for nowhere."
